# Recipes

Single tools are documented in the [reference](https://metadata.io/developers/tools/). These are the orders that get something done, with each step labelled by what it does to the account.

## Read an account without touching it

Every tool here is read-only, so this is the safe way to point a new agent at a live account and see what comes back.

1. `get_account_details` Read Current user and account information.
2. `account_level_stats` Read Account-level statistics and channel breakdown for a timeframe.
3. `performance_metrics` Read Granular performance metrics for ads, audiences, creatives, offers, target groups, keywords.
4. `get_converted_leads_summary` Read Fast aggregate summary of the account's converted leads (Smart Leads) — counts and rates only, no lead rows.

## Build and size an audience before spending

Search the criteria the platform actually supports, create the audience, then ask what it is worth targeting. The estimate is read-only, so the loop can iterate before anything spends.

1. `search_target_group_criteria` Read Get available criteria and their supported values (names and IDs) for target group creation/updates.
2. `create_firmographic_audience` Writes Create B2B company firmographic audiences for targeted advertising campaigns.
3. `create_target_group` Writes Create a new target group with name and targeting criteria.
4. `estimate_target_group` Read Estimate audience size for target group criteria before creating.

## Check a campaign before you launch it

The readiness check is read-only and tells you whether the launch would succeed. Calling it first turns one destructive call into a decision you can put a human in front of.

1. `list_target_groups` Read List and search target groups in Metadata platform.
2. `check_campaign_launch_readiness` Read Check whether a draft campaign is ready to launch, per channel.
3. `launch_campaign` Destructive LAUNCHES REAL MARKETING CAMPAIGNS WITH REAL BUDGET SPEND 🚨 KEYWORDS: launch, start, activate, go live, campaign, begin, advertising, spend, marketing PREREQUISITE: Before runni…

## A rule that holds for all of them

Resolve names to ids with a `list_` or `search_` call before the tool that acts, and reproduce every campaign, audience and offer name character for character. Separators and trailing words are part of the name; a tidied-up name is a wrong name, and the call will either fail or hit the wrong object.
