San Francisco, September 9, 2020 — Metadata announced a $6.5 million over-subscribed Series A led by Resolute Ventures, with participation from Greycroft, York IE, Stormbreakers, and operators including Mark Organ (founder of Eloqua) and Ilya Volodarsky (founder of Segment). More than a dozen Metadata customers and employees also invested. The round brought total funding above $10 million.

## What the round funded

The company said the capital would expand product capabilities, meet rising customer demand, and scale go-to-market. Metadata had launched generally available in 2017. In 2020 it was ranked No. 233 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies, with reported three-year revenue growth of 1,869%.

At the time of the announcement the company had also expanded leadership: Olivier L'Abbé as president, Clay Bentley as VP of Sales (formerly of G2), Jason Widup as VP of Marketing (formerly of Tableau), and Bill Portelli joining the board.

## How Gil framed the problem

> "It's time to transform B2B marketing and place AI and automation, instead of humans, at the center of execution. CMOs today are faced with a flood of data, channels, and tools to make their jobs easier, yet the actual marketing execution is too slow, manual, and error-prone." — Gil Allouche, founder and CEO, Metadata
